FOUNDING ENGINEER

OpenInfo • 2025—Present

At OpenInfo, I work as a founding engineer on a customer-facing platform that connects digital ordering, communication, and fulfilment workflows. My role spans product development, platform work, and operational systems, contributing across both user-facing features and the core processes that support day-to-day operations. I’m closely involved from early architectural decisions through to production delivery, with a strong focus on building features end to end and shaping how they behave in real-world use.

Much of my work centres on ambiguous, fast-moving problem spaces where the challenge is less about implementing a known solution and more about finding the right shape for the system. This includes building new customer engagement capabilities, as well as designing and evolving the core operational flows that support fulfilment at scale. I spend time working directly in operational environments, shaping systems around real constraints, and acting as a production owner for critical workflows, responding to incidents and shipping fixes to keep services reliable.

Alongside hands-on development, I help shape how we work as a team as the organisation grows. This includes contributing to shared patterns and standards, supporting design discussions and reviews, and improving delivery practices as systems mature. The role involves balancing experimentation with production constraints, thinking across data models, backend behaviour, and UX in a single pass, and developing the judgment and communication needed to lead technical direction while staying closely connected to real product work.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Blackbird plc • 2021—2024

At Blackbird, I worked as a software engineer on tools for collaborative, cloud-based video editing. My role spanned a mix of product development, prototyping, and platform work, contributing to both user-facing features and the underlying systems that supported them.

I worked on performance-sensitive areas of the product, exploring new approaches to timelines, rendering, and real-time interaction, and helped validate technical directions through prototypes and proofs of concept. I also contributed to authentication and account-related flows, improving reliability and reducing manual support overhead.

Alongside feature work, I supported the evolution of the codebase by helping migrate legacy systems, improving test coverage, and addressing long-standing issues. As I gained experience, I also took on responsibilities beyond delivery, including mentoring junior engineers and participating in technical interviews.

Overall, the role gave me strong experience working on complex, collaborative software, balancing experimentation with production constraints, and collaborating closely with engineers, product, and leadership to shape technical decisions.

…a bridge between engineering and product — someone to bring a new idea to and see it made real.
